Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Access professional to handle scheduling, preregistration, and financial clearance for AHN services. The role involves collecting, verifying, and communicating information to patients and external contacts, while managing financial responsibilities and ensuring accurate billing data.

Ideal candidates will have a High school diploma or GED, 2 years in related experience, and proficiency with PCs and software.

Qualifications

• Minimum High school diploma or GED; or one - three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two previous years of related experience, preferably within a medical setting, financial services setting, and/or a demanding customer service environment
• Experience operating a PC and using software applications
• Preferred Certification with Healthcare Financial Management Association or Certified Revenue Cycle Representative.
• Call/Service Center experience.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and preregisters patients, verifies demographics and benefits, and ensures correct plan codes and COB order.
• Verifies insurance information through payor contacts or verification systems; communicates authorization/referral requirements to physicians and payors.
• Identifies patient financial responsibilities, estimates amounts, collects liabilities, and posts payments in the ADT system.
• Delivers a positive patient experience; maintains relationships with patients, AHN leadership, staff, and external partners.
• Maintains productivity and suggests process improvements; adheres to organizational policies and completes required training.
• Communicates barriers and supports team with operational issues and training; helps resolve patient issues as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
