Job summary

Allegheny Health Network (AHN) is seeking a patient access/registration professional to greet patients, verify demographics, collect payments, and coordinate with financial advocacy as needed.

You will handle registration at bedside, ensure accurate data in the EHR, and support the admission process while complying with HIPAA and hospital policies. This role requires empathy and strong communication across care teams.

Qualifications

• High School/GED or 1–3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience operating a PC and using software applications.
• One previous year of related experience, preferably within a medical setting, financial services setting, and/or a demanding customer service environment.

Responsibilities

• Conducts scheduling, registration, and admitting functions independently at bedside, validates patient demographic data, identifies and verifies insurance information.
• Calculates estimates, collects liabilities and posts payment transactions in the ADT system.
• Delivers positive patient experience and maintains productive relationships with patients and staff.
• Maintains confidentiality and accurate registration; acts as central resource during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Remains calm and professional when faced with stressful inquiries from patients or visitors.
• Follows AHN policies and completes mandatory trainings.
