Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a patient access professional to manage scheduling, registration, and admitting functions at bedside. You will verify insurance, collect data for billing, and help patients understand financial responsibilities.

You will maintain patient confidentiality, ensure accurate EHR entries, and support colleagues to provide a positive experience for patients and families in a high-acuity setting.

Qualifications

• High School/GED or 1–3 months related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience operating a PC and using software applications.
• One year of related experience, preferably in a medical, financial services, or demanding customer service setting.

Responsibilities

• Performs scheduling, registration, and admitting at bedside; verifies insurance information and collects required data for bill submission.
• Identifies patient financial responsibilities, calculates estimates, and processes payments in the system.
• Maintains positive patient experience and collaborates with healthcare staff and external agencies to support service delivery.
• Maintains confidentiality and accurate electronic health record entries; acts as a central resource during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Responds calmly to inquiries and adheres to AHN policies and HIPAA regulations.
