Job summary

Allegheny Health Network (AHN) is seeking a patient access coordinator to perform bedside scheduling, registration, and admitting functions. You will validate patient demographics, verify insurance coverage, and collect information needed for timely billing and referrals, while ensuring HIPAA compliance and a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required/1–3 months related experience or training
• Experience operating a PC and using software applications
• 1 year of related experience in medical, financial services, or customer service environments preferred
• Medical terminology and insurance knowledge preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduling, registration, and admitting functions at bedside with accurate patient data
• Verify insurance information through payor contacts and electronic systems
• Collect and document data for timely and accurate bill submission (including workers' comp and motor vehicle claims)
• Communicate clearly with patients, families and healthcare staff; ensure patient confidentiality
• Maintain productivity and collaboration with healthcare personnel; handle inquiries professionally
• Assist during evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed and resolve registration issues
