Job summary

Stormont Vail Health in Topeka seeks a Patient Service Associate to support providers and patients in a non-clinical role. You will handle high-volume calls, page critical needs, and coordinate transfers from referring physicians into Stormont Vail Health.

Responsibilities include scheduling discharge follow-ups, registering patients for events, maintaining EMSystem data, and collaborating with nursing staff to ensure timely patient care.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of age appropriate protocols regarding transfer and trauma calls.
• Ability to accurately document inquiries into database for statistical purposes.

Responsibilities

• Paging of Critical Time sensitive needs and all patient care requests.
• Coordinate transfers from referring physicians and enter information into Transfer Module and Sharepoint.
• Assign hospitalists to ER patients admitted as in-patient or observation.
• Arrange discharge appointments and notify patients by phone or letter.
• Review demographic information and enter patient information/chief concern into Nursing queue for after-hours triage.
• Handle incoming calls, reschedule appointments, direct calls to appropriate staff, and cancel appointments as requested.
• Register clients for classes/events sponsored by Stormont Vail Health.
• Maintain the state-wide EMSystem with up-to-date bed status and diversions.
