Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Patient Access Representative who often serves as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service in line with Mercy Service Standards.

The role involves scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification, and financial clearance, while ensuring precise data capture and knowledge of insurance guidelines. Candidates should have 1–3 years of clerical and customer service experience and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years clerical experience and customer service preferred.
• Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification and financial clearance.
• Ensure accurate patient data is entered into the patient record with attention to detail.
• Mentor fellow Patient Access coworkers and maintain knowledge of carrier guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and hospital staff; demonstrate excellent telephone etiquette.
