Job summary

MUSC Health is seeking a Patient Access Associate to provide exceptional customer service while verifying and preparing patient accounts for inpatient and outpatient billing. You will review payment methods, verify demographics and insurance, and help patients set up payment arrangements and assistance programs.

You will collect copayments and deductibles, answer billing inquiries, and ensure accurate data entry in registration and billing systems.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential.
• Ability to verify demographics and insurance information accurately.
• Experience with insurance plans and billing procedures is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains/confirms and enters/updates demographic and insurance information for all patients.
• Secures and explains copies of insurance cards and forms, scans documents into the system.
• Completes MSP questionnaire when applicable.
• Verifies insurance using Real Time Eligibility or payer websites.
• Registers patients during downtime and assists in revenue cycle processes.
• Collects and posts patient payments and assists in arranging payment plans.
