Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to support hospital admitting operations in California. You will register patients, verify insurance, collect necessary information, and handle cashiering and collections as part of a busy admitting workflow.

The role requires strong customer service, 0–2 years in relevant settings, and punctuality for rotating 12-hour shifts. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Salary ranges reflect market standards for this role.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent (GED).
• 0-2 years of experience in hospital, medical, clinical, or customer service environment.
• Bilingual in English & Spanish (beneficial).

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to all individuals.
• Register and check-in patients accurately with required information.
• Collect patient demographics and insurance details for complete registration.
• Obtain patient signatures and information at arrival.
• Escalate complex registrations to experienced staff.
• Perform real-time insurance eligibility and benefits verification.
• Explain financial requirements and collect remaining patient portions at service time.
• Process collections and referrals to Financial Counseling as needed.
• Ensure hospital collection activities comply with department requirements.
• Work rotating shifts in Emergency Admitting with various shift times.
• Serve as preceptors/trainers for new staff.
• Assist inpatient and observation admissions with benefits and signatures as required.
• Maintain high performance and meet weekly goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
