Job summary

The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern, Auberge Collection, in Los Olivos is seeking a Culinary Artisan to join our kitchen brigade. You will showcase pastry and baking skills, curating desserts and sweet offerings as part of a dedicated culinary team.

As a Culinary Artisan, you will manage mise en place, assist in training fellow cooks, and uphold high standards of sanitation while producing consistent, high‑quality pastries and desserts for our guests.

Qualifications

• Formal training or education in culinary arts, with a focus on pastry and baking techniques.
• One year Cook III level or previous Cook II experience.
• Proficient in various baking methods, including dough preparation, pastry shaping, and decorating techniques.
• Strong focus on precision and detail to ensure high quality pastries and desserts.

Responsibilities

• Orders supplies as necessary by initiating requisitions.
• Checks function sheets and restaurant requisitions and prepares a daily task list.
• Prepares determined mise en place for the day.
• Practices stock rotation, storage, and handling of goods to minimize waste and spoilage.
• Assists in supervision and/or training of other cooks.
• Keeps the work area clean at all times and adheres to health, safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Reports suspicious persons in the kitchen.
• Organizes outlet orders and needs.
