A Pastry Cook is responsible for the daily preparation and execution of pastry items in their designated stations. They must complete mise-en-place before service according to standards set by the Executive Pastry Chef and the restaurant. Responsibilities include maintaining quality through product rotation and waste management, ensuring consistency in technique, flavor, and presentation, and adhering to guidelines without modifications. This role requires teamwork, good communication, and reading skills. Due to business needs, weekend and holiday work is required.

General Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Set up station timely according to restaurant guidelines.
  • Prepare pastry items in a sanitary and efficient manner.
  • Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards.
  • Restock items as needed and manage inventory post-shift.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of work stations.
  • Properly use and maintain all equipment.
  • Assist with cleaning and organizing the kitchen and storage areas.
  • Perform additional tasks as requested by the Pastry Chef or management.
  • Have a thorough understanding of professional pastry techniques and food knowledge.
  • Understand safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures.
  • Possess previous pastry experience.
  • Communicate professionally and work well in a team.
  • Work calmly under pressure, be organized, and problem-solve effectively.
  • Commit to quality service and food standards.
  • Be aware of company policies on benefits, call-outs, vacation, and dress code.
  • Show eagerness to learn and grow within the company.
Working Conditions:
  • Stand throughout the shift.
  • Occasional exposure to cold, heat, and moisture.
  • Transport up to 40 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds regularly.
  • Read and understand basic pastry and cooking instructions.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Proven cooking experience and a food handler’s license.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
