Job summary

Starwood Hotels is seeking a Pastry Cook to join the pastry team in Austin, responsible for preparation, baking and production of pastry items for events and outlets in line with recipes and safety standards.

The role requires assembling, baking, decorating, and presenting pastries while adhering to quality controls, schedules, and guest expectations in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Qualifications

• Previous pastry experience in a similar position with ability to execute advanced duties
• Excellent communication and listening skills in English
• Strong reading of safety rules and BEOs
• Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
• Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammed instructions
• Proficient in basic mathematical calculations
• Strong customer service orientation and teamwork

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up pastry station for daily service.
• Prepare menu items according to brand standards and recipes.
• Alter items to accommodate dietary needs or preferences.
• Track ingredients, equipment, and supplies, maintain sanitation and organization.
• Weigh, mix, knead, bake, decorate pastries, breads, cakes, and confections.
• Produce ice creams and sorbets; manage labeling and temperature control.
• Attend pre-shift meetings and communicate with leadership and guests.
• Maintain safety and food handling procedures; ensure guest satisfaction.
