Job summary

Durham County Library is seeking a part-time, temporary 10% FTE library assistant to provide relief and emergency coverage across all library locations. The role requires flexibility to work days, evenings and weekends, with reliable transportation and a customer-focused approach.

You will deliver excellent customer service at service desks and help patrons with the catalog, online resources, and reading advisory.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited library school.
• Previous library experience preferred.
• Spanish language ability a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide relief and emergency coverage at all Durham County Library locations.
• Work flexible schedule including days, evenings and weekends with reliable transportation.
• Provide reference and reader's advisory services via phone, chat, email, and in person.
• Assist patrons with the online catalog and digital resources.
• Perform circulation duties: issuing library cards, processing holds, shelving, and materials checkout.
