Job summary

Town of Nashville (NC) seeks a part-time library clerk to perform paraprofessional and clerical duties in a busy public library. You will handle circulation, readers advisory, catalog assistance, and program support while maintaining accuracy and strong public contact.

Responsibilities include fines, holds, shelving, displays, and helping patrons with catalogs and computers. Flexibility within core hours 9:00am–6:00pm is provided, up to 20 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with office or library coursework encouraged.
• Experience serving the public in a library or similar setting preferred.
• Ability to handle money and operate library systems with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Check books/media in and out and assist patrons with catalog use.
• Collect fines, issue notices, and manage holds.
• Shelve materials and assist with displays and program prep.
• Assist patrons with study rooms and maker space reservations.
• Provide telephone information and basic clerical support.
