Job summary

Durham County Government’s North Regional Library is seeking a Library Circulation Assistant to join a busy team. You will handle checkouts, returns, holds, patron inquiries, and contribute to daily library operations; flexible scheduling including afternoons, nights, and weekends.

Strong customer service and basic computer skills are essential, and knowledge of Spanish is a plus. You may be asked to work at other Durham County Library locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in library science or related field required or equivalent.
• Strong customer service and computer skills required for daily tasks.
• Flexibility to work afternoons, nights and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Shares in coverage of the Circulation Desk and assists with daily operations.
• Checks items in/out, pulls holds, shelves materials, and handles fees and accounts.
• Registers borrowers and resolves account issues, answers questions in person or remotely.
• Monitors LibAnswers/LibChat and assists with money handling and deposits.
• Works across library locations as needed and participates in committees.
