Job summary

Durham County Library is seeking a part-time Library Courier to deliver books, materials, and equipment across multiple library locations. You will work under supervision, operate a van, and maintain routes with attention to safety and accuracy.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license. Pro-rated benefits apply; 53% FTE status indicates reduced hours and benefits eligibility.

Qualifications

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
• One year of customer service, transportation, courier services or related experience.
• Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and perform light to medium work.

Responsibilities

• Maintain daily schedule of delivering mail and library materials between seven Durham County Library locations and other County locations.
• Perform daily pre-trip checks before scheduled deliveries.
• Make weekly bank deposits for the library system.
• Perform minimal maintenance tasks as needed.
• Performs related tasks as assigned.
