Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health in Peabody, MA is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist for a part-time, day-shift role (20 hours/week) at the Peabody Medical Center. The ST will assist the surgical team, pass instruments, prepare sterile fields, and support quality and safety initiatives under RN supervision.

Requirements include graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited program, certification preferred with a 1-month window to obtain it, and over one year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited surgical technology program.
• Certification preferred; new hires must obtain certification within one month of hire.
• Demonstrates ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards.
• Greater than one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Sets up for surgical procedures with proper instrumentation, equipment and supplies.
• Passes instruments and supplies to the surgeon at the sterile field.
• Anticipates needs of the surgical team during procedures and provides instruments and supplies.
• Maintains sterile field and aseptic technique.
• Ensures accuracy of sponge, sharps and instrument counts with the circulating nurse.
• Participates in quality improvement/quality assurance activities at the unit level.
• On-call duties may be required for specified nights, weekends and holidays.
