Responsibilities

• Review procedure and surgeon preference cards to determine needs for each case.
• Assist the circulating nurse with instrument setup and patient positioning.
• Pass instruments and assist with retraction at the sterile field as directed.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide instruments and supplies promptly.
• Maintain instrument, supply, and equipment cleanliness and sterility per guidelines.
• Collaborate with the circulating nurse to ensure accurate sponge/sharps/instrument counts.
