Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with daily store activities, organize merchandise from delivery to sales floor, and help train Store Associates in a fast-paced environment.

You will maintain store standards, manage opening/closing routines, and ensure compliance with company policies while upholding a positive customer experience in a busy retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical tasks.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process all corporate directives and store communications related to activities
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for storefronts
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and record keeping including payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure associates follow procedures
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Foster a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff
• Ensure cleanliness, including bathrooms, floors, trash, and neat presentation
• Other duties as assigned
