Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service and team development. You will help with daily functions and maintain a well-presented, customer-friendly store floor.

The ideal candidate has strong communication and leadership skills, can supervise and train associates, and ensures safe, compliant operations in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read and interpret directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical duties.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Able to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Excellent customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize, and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor as needed and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional storefront displays and fixtures.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Follow safety policies and ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Ensure cleanliness of the store, bathrooms, floors, and trash removal.
• Other duties as assigned.
