Job summary

Alfred is seeking a Part-Time Shift Lead in Los Angeles to support daily cafe operations, lead a fast-paced team, and uphold hospitality standards. The role reports to the Cafe Manager and requires strong communication and leadership skills to foster guest satisfaction.

The Shift Lead will manage customer service, maintain beverage and food quality, and assist with staffing and training. A passion for hospitality and reliable attendance are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• Previous cafe, coffee, or restaurant experience preferred, but not required.
• Passion for hospitality and guest experiences.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Willing to learn and grow; reliable attendance and availability.
• Minimum three shifts per week; 30 hours weekly for full-time status.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example in hospitality and uphold Alfred standards.
• Provide confident leadership during shifts to ensure smooth cafe operations.
• Create a welcoming environment for guests and engage customers.
• Address questions and escalate issues per Alfred Hospitality standards.
• Maintain knowledge of cafe offerings and support team development.
• Collaborate with team, delegate tasks, and ensure accuracy.
• Support onboarding and training through coaching.
• Develop barista knowledge of coffee and tea origins.
• Build relationships and understand team motivations.
• Assist management with staffing and shift flow.
