Job summary

Family Dollar in Springfield, MA is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development on a part-time basis. You will assist with everyday store activities, help customers, organize merchandise, and ensure displays and areas meet company standards.

You will also participate in opening/closing procedures, payroll/scheduling records, loss prevention, and staff training under the Store Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read and explain operational directives.
• Retail store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions
• Move merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor
• Perform opening and closing procedures
• Maintain promotional displays and storefront fixtures
• Assist in ordering merchandise and handling damaged goods
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked store and organized stockroom
• Protect store assets including cash and loss prevention
• Support Store Manager in training and development of associates
• Ensure a safe, respectful environment for customers and staff
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store including bathrooms, floors, trash and neat appearance
