Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is hiring an experienced Registered Nurse to join our correctional healthcare team. You will provide high-level nursing care to detainees, collaborate with physicians, and help maintain a safe, secure clinical environment.

Responsibilities include assessments, medication administration, patient education, and supervision of LPN staff. A current RN license and two years of direct nursing experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• RN license unrestricted in state where facility is located.
• 2+ years direct nursing experience preferred.
• Competence in crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, nursing and psychiatric care.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care within your capacity and refer issues to physician.
• Perform comprehensive physical assessments and medical history.
• Evaluate patients' symptoms and progress; report problems to physician/management.
• Securely administer medications and prevent hoarding/trafficking.
• Ensure prescriptions are administered as instructed; educate patients on chronic illnesses.
• Supervise LPN staff workflow and contribute to performance evaluations.
• Document detainee contacts and keep medical records confidential.
• Follow industry and GEO accreditation policies.
