Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care in a correctional setting while observing and maintaining the requirements of operational security.

The role requires an active RN license in the state and solid clinical skills across medical and psychiatric nursing care. Responsibilities include assisting physicians, medication administration, and maintaining confidential medical records.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in nursing with current RN license.
• Two years of direct RN experience preferred.
• Proficiency in crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment and psychiatric nursing care.
• Ability to work independently with supervision and follow through on treatment.

Responsibilities

• Performs a complete physical assessment and medical history on detainees entering the correctional system.
• Assists the physician with sick calls and minor procedures; refers more complex issues.
• Administers medications per orders and ensures formulary compliance.
• Maintains progress notes, confidentiality, and records of contacts.
• Coordinates Chronic Disease Clinic scheduling and supervision of LPN staff.
• Maintains security and safety during care delivery and proper disposal of needles.
