Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a licensed Registered Nurse to join our correctional health team. Working alongside an LPN, you will deliver high-quality nursing care to inmates in a secure facility while upholding privacy and safety standards.

The role emphasizes comprehensive assessments, medication administration, patient education, and accurate medical documentation, with supervisory input and adherence to accreditation policies.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in nursing; current RN license in the facility state.
• Two years of direct nursing experience preferred.
• Competence in crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, nursing care, and psychiatric nursing care.
• Ability to work without direct supervision and provide appropriate follow-through treatment.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care within capacity and refer complex cases to physician.
• Perform comprehensive physical assessments and medical history.
• Periodically evaluate patients’ symptoms, reactions, and progress; report problems to physician/management.
• Administer medications safely and prevent hoarding/trafficking; ensure correct administration as prescribed.
• Provide patient education for chronic illnesses, post-hospitalization, and post-surgical care.
• Supervise LPN staff and contribute to performance evaluations.
• Document detainee/inmate contacts and maintain confidentiality of medical records.
• Follow industry and GEO accreditation policies.
