Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide high-quality nursing care for inmates in a secured facility. You will perform physical assessments, manage medications, and collaborate with physicians to ensure safe, effective treatment.

You will also educate patients on chronic conditions, supervise LPN staff, and maintain confidential medical records while upholding accreditation standards and facility policies.

Qualifications

• Must have a current, unrestricted RN license in California.
• Two years of direct RN experience preferred.
• Competence in crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment and nursing care.
• Ability to work without direct supervision and follow through with treatment.
• Proficiency with the department’s software systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care within your capacity and refer other medical problems to the physician.
• Perform comprehensive physical assessments and medical histories.
• Monitor symptoms, reactions, and progress; report to Physician and management.
• Administer medications safely and ensure adherence to prescribed regimens.
• Educate patients on chronic illnesses, post-hospitalization, and post-surgical care.
• Supervise LPN staff and contribute to performance evaluations.
• Document detainee contacts and maintain confidential medical records.
• Follow accreditation policies.
