Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care in a correctional setting, upholding security requirements while delivering evidence-based care.

The role involves conducting physical assessments, assisting physicians, administering medications, documenting patient care, and coordinating Chronic Disease Clinic scheduling, with supervision of LPN staff and adherence to accreditation standards.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license in the state where the facility is located.
• Two years of direct work experience preferred.
• Competence in crisis intervention and medical emergencies.
• Ability to perform physical assessments and provide nursing care.
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete physical assessments and medical history on detainees entering the correctional system.
• Assist physicians with sick calls and minor procedures; refer complex cases as needed.
• Ensure physician orders are followed; administer medications per formulary.
• Record observations and progress notes; communicate with management.
• Maintain security while administering medications and prevent drug hoarding.
• Prepare regular and special reports; maintain accreditation compliance.
• Document detainee contacts and protect confidentiality of medical records.
• Coordinate Chronic Disease Clinic scheduling.
• Supervise LPN staff; provide input into performance evaluations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
