Job summary

BioLife in Ames, IA is hiring for a part-time plasma donor screener/phlebotomy support role. Most shifts are 4 to 6 hours, 3+ days per week, with paid training and flexible scheduling.

You will greet donors, screen new and repeat donors, record vital signs, and help maintain donor charts and compensation records. The position requires local availability, reliability, and a customer-service mindset.

Qualifications

• Ability to walk and stand for entire shift.
• Will work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lean, bend, stoop, crouch, and reach above shoulders and below knees.
• Ability to lift up to 5 lbs., occasional lifting to 32 lbs., rarely 50 lbs.
• Fine motor coordination, depth perception, and ability to hear equipment from a distance.
• 90% of tasks involve glove wear due to exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
• 1+ year in a customer or patient-facing role is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones, greet donors, and maintain donor safety during shifts.
• Screen new and repeat donors and record donor vital signs and finger stick results.
• Use Donor Information System, prepare donor charts, and coordinate donor compensation.
• Identify operational improvement opportunities and initiate process changes per procedures.
• Support donors across varied shifts including weekends and holidays.
