Job summary

BioLife is seeking a part-time Phlebotomist in Des Moines, IA to collect plasma and screen donors. You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and perform venipuncture, donor screening, and related center operations with a focus on reliability and patient service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to walk and stand for the shift.
• Evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Lift up to 5 lbs; occasional 32 lbs, rarely 50 lbs.
• Fine motor coordination and depth perception; ability to hear equipment.
• Work may involve prolonged glove wear due to bloodborne exposure.
• 1+ years in a customer or patient-facing role is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Greet donors as they enter and exit the donor floor.
• Perform venipuncture and program plasmapheresis machines.
• Monitor donors during the donation process and manage reactions.
• Set up, verify, operate, and troubleshoot plasmapheresis equipment within training scope.
• Install, prime, and disconnect disposable sets on plasmapheresis machines.
• Stock supplies, break down cartons, and assist with disposal.
• Record donor vitals and data into the DIS system.
• Coordinate donors to the donor floor and process compensation.
• Support center management in identifying operational improvements per approved procedures (5S, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen).
