Job summary

The State of New Hampshire, Department of Safety, Division of State Police, Permits and Licensing Unit, seeks a part-time Permits and Licensing Unit Assistant I to review, verify and process transactions and perform related duties. This role does not include health insurance and is limited to 29.5 hours per week.

Candidate must pass background checks and be willing to obtain SPOTS certification within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Equivalency: 1 year of education plus 1 year of experience after high school.
• Background checks including fingerprint and motor vehicle records.
• Preferred: data entry, customer service, or data review experience.

Responsibilities

• Review applications for completeness and accuracy and verify against laws and databases.
• Research criminal history records to determine preliminary license/permit decisions.
• Correspond with the public and law enforcement to convey approvals or denials.
• Maintain proficiency operating state databases and related software.
• Notify and coordinate with FFLs on procedures and policies.
• Prepare caseload reports for supervisor decisions.
