Job summary

IU Health is seeking a Part-Time Day Patient Care Technician to deliver compassionate bedside care and support to patients. The PCA will assist with meals, mobility, baths, and linens while maintaining safety and liaising with the RN for vital sign monitoring and rapid response to changes.

Ideal candidates hold BLS certification and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and adherence to infection control practices.

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients served.
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to withstand high levels of tension and stress in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to read and perform basic math.
• Knowledge of infection control principles.
• Ability to perform physically demanding, repetitive movements.
• Ability to organize tasks and attend to details.

Responsibilities

• Provide phenomenally attentive bedside care and anticipate patient needs (drinks, meals, walking, baths, linens).
• Assist bedside RN by obtaining vital signs and reporting abnormalities.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts, alarms, and close proximity when moving.
• Support patient comfort and dignity in a busy hospital setting.
