Job summary

IU Health in Indianapolis is seeking a Part-Time Day Patient Care Technician (PCA) to provide compassionate bedside support. You will assist with meals, drinks, mobility, baths, and linen changes while helping keep patients comfortable and safe.

The role requires partnering with the bedside RN to obtain vital signs, report changes, and follow infection control practices. You will work in a fast-paced hospital setting, delivering attentive care and contributing to IU Health's award-winning

Qualifications

• Must have current Basic Life Support certification (AHA) or complete IU Health PCA program.
• Ability to care for patients across ages and developmental levels.
• Knowledge of patient care procedures and safety standards.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to stay focused under interruptions and stress.
• Ability to read and perform basic math and organize tasks.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and lift/carry when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks, assist with meal ordering and feeding.
• Encourage walking and mobility for patients.
• Assist with baths and linen changes.
• Obtain vital signs and report abnormalities to the RN.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts and alarms.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
