Job summary

IU Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to deliver exceptional bedside care and support to our patients. The role involves assisting with meals, mobility, baths, and linen changes, while maintaining safety and comfort.

Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reporting changes to the RN, and ensuring patient safety with appropriate equipment. A caring bedside manner and ability to work in a fast-paced hospital setting are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate patient care.
• Up-to-date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Proficient interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain concentration under interruptions and stress.
• Ability to organize tasks and manage a high workload within time constraints.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care including assisting with meals, mobility, baths, and linen changes.
• Obtain vital signs and report abnormalities or changes to the RN or charge nurse.
• Maintain patient safety with gait belts, bed and chair alarms, and close proximity during movement.
• Support care team by completing assigned tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
