Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to support RNs at the bedside. You will help with meals, hygiene, walking, baths, linen changes, and safety while monitoring patient condition and reporting changes promptly.

The role emphasizes compassion, teamwork, and the ability to work in a fast-paced hospital setting. Training is provided, including an IU Health PCA education program and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain vital signs and report abnormalities to RN.
• Knowledge of infection control principles.
• BLS certification required or obtained during PCA training.
• Ability to read and perform basic math.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meals and meal ordering, hydration, and feeding support.
• Assist with activities of daily living: baths, grooming, linen changes.
• Encourage patient mobility and walking as appropriate.
• Provide safe patient environment using gait belts and alarms, stay within arm's reach.
• Document and report patient status changes to the bedside RN.
