Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide compassionate bedside care and support for patients. Responsibilities include assisting with meals, helping patients with walking, baths, and linens, and ensuring comfort and safety at the bedside.

The PCA will work closely with registered nurses, obtain vital signs, report changes promptly, and follow infection control and safety protocols to maintain high-quality patient care in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Requires compassion and patient-centered approach.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Knowledge of patient safety and infection control practices.
• Ability to obtain vital signs and report abnormalities to RN.
• Ability to read basic math and perform basic calculations.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks, assist with meal ordering, encourage walking, assist with baths, and supply clean linens and gowns.
• Obtain vital signs and report abnormalities to the RN or charge nurse.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts, bed/chair alarms, and staying within arm's reach.
• Follow infection control practices and assist with activities of daily living as assigned.
