Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools is seeking a Paraeducator in Learning Support for a one-on-one position. The role is 6.5 hours per day, 9 months per year, supporting a student under the supervision of a certificated teacher.

Applicants should provide education, relevant experience, and skills highlighting qualifications. Responsibilities include assisting with classroom activities, data collection, implementing IEP goals, and collaboration with staff.

Qualifications

• Documentation verifying a high school diploma or GED
• Official transcripts for an Associate's degree OR 72 quarter/48 semester credits OR ParaPro 461+
• One year of related experience with children preferred
• Experience as part of an educational team preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and problem-solving skills

• Support certificated staff in developing goals for each student
• Support the teacher in planning and evaluating learning goals and progress
• Independently oversee student behavior and assist during class activities
• Lead small groups or individualized instruction in reading, writing, math, and social/behavioral skills
• Communicate with the special education teacher regarding student needs
• Implement behavior support plans for students with behavior needs
