Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools is seeking a Special Program Paraeducator 1 for an intensive academic classroom. The role is a one-on-one position, 6 hours per day, 9 months per year, supporting students with diverse needs.

The successful candidate will work under a certificated teacher, assist with instructional activities, and participate in team meetings. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and related experience or ParaPro credentials.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and additional qualifications as listed: transcripts showing college credits OR ParaPro Assessment score.
• Experience working with children in educational settings preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities to support classroom goals.

Responsibilities

• Work with the teacher to implement and evaluate IEP goals.
• Assist with classroom activities in small groups or one-on-one.
• De-escalate emotional/behavioral crises and follow behavior plans.
• Assist with data entry, record keeping and filing as directed.
• Support students with disabilities and adapt instructional materials.
• Attend required trainings and maintain confidentiality.
