Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools is seeking a Paraeducator, Learning Support 1:1 to assist certificated staff in delivering targeted instruction to individual students or small groups. The role supports students with diverse needs under teacher supervision.

The position operates 6.5 hours per day for 9 months per year, non-exempt, with duties focused on classroom support, behavior management, and progress monitoring within a collaborative educational environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or 60+ semester credits or ParaPro score 455+ preferred.
• One year of related experience with children preferred.
• Experience as part of an educational team preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage expectations.

Responsibilities

• Assist certificated teachers to support student learning in the classroom.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records with teacher guidance.
• Support small groups or individual students as assigned.
• Help ensure student safety and positive behavior in the classroom.
• Perform related duties as assigned by the administrator.
