Job summary

Hearing Screening Associates is seeking a Newborn Hearing Screening Technician PT to perform newborn hearing screens in hospital NICU and well-baby units in Detroit, MI. The role offers 10–20 hours per week with PrN weekday shifts and some weekend work.

Compensation is $17.50/hour with a $1.00/hour weekend differential; extensive training will be provided to ensure proficiency with screening procedures and equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years healthcare or childcare training/experience, or related college curriculum is a plus.
• Possess basic computer skills.
• Ability to function independently in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Ability to attend all company provided training.
• Willingness and ability to learn and operate hearing screening equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct newborn hearing screenings in well baby and NICU units prior to discharge; coordinate post-discharge follow up as needed.
• Work directly with nursing staff, patients and parents to communicate relevance of hearing screening and early identification.
• Analyze and communicate responses to problem situations in a manner consistent with the company and customer’s needs.
• Maintain and use hearing screening equipment; assist with database management.
• Interact with hospital departments; follow policies and procedures of HSA, hospitals and departments.
• Uphold the code of conduct and compliance policies.
• After training, have knowledge of Transient Otoacoustic Emissions and/or Automated Auditory Brainstem Response technology.
• All other duties as assigned.
