Job summary

Hearing Screening Associates in Lafayette, LA seeks a part-time Newborn Hearing Screening Technician to support newborn nurseries and NICUs. You will perform hearing screens on newborns, educate parents, and record results prior to discharge.

The role offers weekend alternating shifts, roughly 4 hours per day and 5–15 hours per week, with pay of $16.25 per hour plus $1 weekend differential. Training will be provided to ensure proficiency with TEOAE/ABR equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One or more years of healthcare or childcare training/experience, or related college curriculum is a plus.
• Possess basic computer skills.
• Ability to function independently in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Ability to attend all company provided training.
• Willingness and ability to learn and operate hearing screening equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct newborn hearing screenings on infants in well baby and NICU units, prior to discharge; coordinate follow-up care as needed.
• Work directly with nursing staff, patients, and parents to communicate relevance of screening and early identification.
• Analyze and communicate responses to problem situations as required by the company and customer needs.
• Maintain and use hearing screening equipment, assist with database management.
• Interact with various hospital departments; perform duties per policies of HSA and hospitals.
• Uphold the code of conduct and compliance policies.
• After training, have knowledge of protocols and instrumentation for Transient Otoacoustic Emissions and/or ABR tech.
• All other duties as assigned.
