Job summary

The Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library seeks a Monitor Mentor to engage youth and adults at branch locations, fostering a welcoming environment for library use and enjoyment. The role emphasizes positive interactions and support for programming under librarian direction.

Qualifications

• Customer service skills and the ability to enforce patron policies.
• Ability to work independently and with others in varying situations.
• Comfort with using library technologies and locating information.
• Physically able to lift under 25 pounds and push carts up to 150 pounds.
• Ability to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Build rapport with youth and adults to promote a safe, engaging library environment.
• Assist staff with youth engagement and age-appropriate programming under supervision.
• Defuse conflicts and promote peaceful library use using restorative practices.
• Collaborate with neighborhood partners and share information about youth behavior as appropriate.
• Support and enforce the Library's customer policies and procedures.
