Job summary

Columbus Metropolitan Library in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a Youth Engagement Specialist (part-time) to foster positive experiences for youth and their caregivers, promote literacy, and deliver engaging programs aligned with the Young Minds Strategy.

You will collaborate with schools and community partners, manage juvenile materials, and supervise volunteers while maintaining welcoming spaces. A Bachelor’s degree and youth experience are required; evening/weekend hours are included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• 2-3 years’ experience working with youth or community engagement required.
• Experience delivering programs to diverse audiences preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to operate library technology including Windows/Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Proactively provides customer service by engaging youth and families in library resources, activities, and programs.
• Creates a safe, welcoming environment with a balance of fun, engagement, and learning.
• Plans, promotes and presents programs for children of all ages at the location and off-site.
• Answers questions and provides service throughout the building and refers to sources when needed.
• Connects with schools and organizations to promote Young Minds programs and services.
