Job summary

Columbus Metropolitan Library seeks a Youth Engagement Specialist to inspire youth and families through engaging programs at the Main Library. This part-time role (20-24 hrs/week) focuses on literacy, outreach to schools, and youth development within the Young Minds Strategy.

You will plan and deliver programs for children of all ages, maintain welcoming spaces, supervise volunteers, and collaborate with community partners while upholding library policies and a safe environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's Degree and 2-3 years’ youth or community engagement experience.
• Experience delivering programs to diverse audiences preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to operate library technology (Windows/Microsoft Office) and related systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide high level customer service by engaging youth and families in usage of library resources, activities and programs.
• Create a welcoming environment that balances a fun atmosphere with relationship building and youth development.
• Plan, promote and present programs for children at the location and off-site.
• Connect with schools and community organizations to promote Young Minds programs and services.
• Direct volunteer and volunteen activities including orientation and scheduling.
• Ensure that the children’s and teen areas are neat, orderly and appealing.
