Job summary

Columbus Metropolitan Library is seeking a Youth Engagement Specialist to foster engaging experiences for youth and their caregivers, advancing literacy and reading. You will help design and deliver programs aligned with the Young Minds Strategy and may collaborate with schools and community partners.

Responsibilities include coordinating volunteers, planning events, managing juvenile collections, and promoting positive youth development across library locations and outreach activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• 2–3 years' experience working with youth or community engagement.
• Experience delivering programs and services to diverse audiences preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Proactively provides high level customer service by engaging youth and families in library resources, activities and programs.
• Creates a safe, welcoming environment that supports youth development and learning.
• Plans, promotes and presents youth programs and informal engagements at the location and off-site.
• Connects with schools and community organizations to promote Young Minds programs and services.
• Directs volunteer and volunteen activities including training and scheduling.
• Assists with collection management for juvenile materials and creates displays.
• Maintains neat, inviting children’s and teen spaces.
