Job summary

Columbus Metropolitan Library is seeking a part-time Security Officer for the Southeast Branch in Groveport, OH. The role includes patrols, responding to incidents, and ensuring a safe environment for staff and patrons.

Shifts include evening and weekend hours with two scheduling options and a competitive starting pay range. The position requires 1–3 years of relevant experience, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of customer service or security experience or training required.
• Ability to transport to various locations and report promptly to assignments; valid driver license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Patrol buildings and grounds to prevent theft and ensure safety.
• Use de-escalation techniques to handle disruptive behavior.
• Greet customers and assist with directions and inquiries.
• Respond to safety hazards, incidents, and emergencies and document with CCTV review as needed.
• Ensure building security at closing and assist with emergency drills and evacuations.
