Job summary

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh is seeking a Customer Engagement Associate at our Carrick location in Pittsburgh. You will deliver welcoming, patron-centered service, help patrons locate materials, answer account questions, and provide computer-related support.

This part-time role offers 25 hours per week with day, evening, and weekend availability and pays $16.00 per hour. Strong customer service, communication, and teamwork are essential to thrive in a busy library environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent internal and external customer service commitment and skills.
• Ability to support the location team by maintaining assigned schedule with reliable and predictable attendance that prioritizes the timely performance of responsibilities and ensures quality public for the community being served.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with public, supervisors, co-workers, and system wide.
• Knowledge of CLP's circulation policies and procedures; ability to gain working knowledge of CLP's policies and procedures.
• Desire and ability to work with a diverse public and staff within diverse communities.
• Ability to act as a representative of CLP to the public.
• Ability to learn the current shelving system.
• Familiarity with online catalog, MS Windows and MS Office, electronic databases, Internet searching, and experience with library circulation software preferred.
• Knowledge of basic math skills.
• Bilingual or multilingual abilities a plus.

Responsibilities

• Meet the needs of a diverse range of customers; answer phones, greet customers and direct them to staff and resources.
• Perform circulation duties such as checking materials in and out, registering customers for library cards, processing holds and requests.
• Provide access to library services and materials; locate and retrieve materials and provide instruction in use of library equipment (computers).
• Performs other duties as assigned.
