Job summary

The Alamance County Public Library is seeking a part-time Library Assistant for May Memorial Public Library to serve patrons with reference help, reader advisory and technology assistance, and to perform routine tasks to keep the library running smoothly. A high school diploma is required; one year of customer service experience is needed, and bilingual Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; some college preferred.
• One year of customer service experience required.
• Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.
• Flexibility in scheduling is required.

Responsibilities

• Promote ACPL’s values and mission.
• Follow and enforce established library policies and procedures.
• Work all public service desks at May Memorial Public Library and other branches as needed.
• Assist with the maintenance of library collections.
• Assist patrons through reference interactions, reader advisory inquires and in the use of technology and online resources.
• Work with the Branch Manager in developing, promoting, and presenting programs for adults reflecting of the community demographic and patron interest.
• Increase skills and knowledge through professional reading, workshops and webinars.
