Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a part-time laboratory support specialist to serve as a resource for clients and hospital locations, handling specimen information, test clarification, and specimen integrity. The role supports sample collection, labeling, storage and transport, ensures proper ordering and packaging, and communicates with staff and customers to resolve issues while maintaining a professional image.

Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two years' experience in specimen collection/processing or related healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Answer phone calls, provide information or refer calls as needed.
• Receive and initiate communication to discuss resolution to identified problems with remote locations.
• Knowledge of test requesting, labeling, specimen storage and retrieval, and tracking.
• Provide specimen requirements, expected ranges, production schedule and information on specimen stability to clients.
• Ensure proper ordering, labeling, packaging, and transporting of laboratory specimens to McLaren Medical Laboratory (MML).
• Follow laboratory procedures in resolving problems and document actions taken appropriately.
