Job summary

Rio Salado Community College in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Part-Time Lab Assistant (Temp Level 1) to assemble science lab kits, count supplies, measure quantities, and package materials for student delivery.

Work schedule is Monday through Friday with 10-19.5 hours per week, flexible daytime hours. This temporary position is not eligible for benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience working individually and as part of a team.
• May be required to move and lift 20 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to primarily non-toxic substances.

Responsibilities

• Reads, interprets, and follows established written kit production and packaging procedures in order to ensure accuracy and consistency of science lab kits.
• Follows verbal directions.
• Follows established safety procedures for kit production, as well as for the cleaning, disposal, and storage of lab equipment and materials.
• Works effectively and efficiently with limited supervision to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner; takes inventory of lab materials.
• Familiar with names and uses of common lab materials and science equipment, as well as common lab safety procedures.
• Measures small quantities of chemicals on an electronic balance.
• Works with unpacking, storing, and handling kit materials, lab equipment and other lab supplies.

Job Summary

This position creates science lab kits for students, following directions that are predetermined. Daily tasks require counting, measuring amounts of supplies, and packaging for delivery to the student. May also assist in the storing, unpackaging, and organizing of materials that are delivered for contents of the kits.

Essential Functions
