Job summary

The City of Mebane is seeking a Part-time HR Generalist to support recruitment, benefits, training, and employee relations within the Human Resources department. This role handles leave administration, policy interpretation, and records management, reporting to the HR Director.

Qualified candidates will have a four-year degree in HR or related field, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently with meticulous attention to detail. Valid NC driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a four-year college or university in HR, Public Administration, Business, or related field.
• SHRM-CP or PHR certification is preferred for this role.

Responsibilities

• Manages City recruitment including advertisement, referral, selection, and compensation recommendations.
• Maintains records, forms processing, and policies, interpreting new policies as needed.
• Maintains and updates classification structures and studies positions based on requests.
• Assesses training needs and delivers targeted trainings in designated areas.
• Maintains employee and medical files in compliance with laws and confidentiality requirements.
• Coordinates leaves of absence and ensures proper documentation and return-to-work requirements.
• Assists Risk Manager with workers’ compensation, auto, property and liability claims processing.
• Coordinates random drug testing per City/DOT guidelines.
• Assists with 401(k) enrollment, loans, and withdrawals as needed.
• Ensures accurate data entry into HRIS and processes unemployment claims.
