Job summary

Area IV Agency seeks a Program Intake Specialist in Lafayette to screen and determine eligibility for the Energy Assistance Program across multiple counties. You will collect information, enter data, and coordinate with partner agencies to serve low-income households.

This short-term position, 6-8 months, supports outreach, trainings, and program operations while maintaining confidentiality and partnering with staff to meet regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and one year experience working with the public.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to evaluate and react to change in a positive and productive manner.
• Ability to organize and multi-task and think critically to solve problems.
• Strong computer skills and ability to learn new systems.
• Maintain client confidentiality and demonstrate ethical judgment.
• Must possess a valid Indiana driver's license and dependable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client assessments to determine energy assistance program eligibility.
• Enter all necessary information from applications into the required data system.
• Attend trainings to enhance program related knowledge.
• Work with staff to implement assigned program(s) according to state/federal guidelines.
• Collaborate with other community agencies to serve clients in Area IV counties.
• Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and respond to messages.
• Maintain flow of files and re-file as required.
• Adhere to confidentiality and ethical standards of conduct.
• Participate in outreach activities to raise awareness of programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by EAP Coordinator or Executive Director.
